When faced with a life-limiting illness, Mercy Hospice is a logical and compassionate choice. Electing Hospice care does not mean "giving up hope". It is designed to meet the needs of those who have a terminal illness, providing them and their loved ones with services and support. It means curative treatments are no longer effective or desired in managing the disease's progression.

Hospice is not a place where one goes to die but rather a philosophy of care. Patients receive Hospice care at home, and home is broadly defined. Home may be a person's residence, a nursing or assisted living facility, or a hospital. It is where ever the individual calls home.

Hospice care focuses on the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free and with dignity, and the hope that our loved ones will receive the support to allow us to do so. Hospice care can provide the necessary support to help the patient and the family cope and understand what is happening at end of life.
